Bullified World Premiere at the LIIFE festival on Tuesday, July 23rd

John Mitty Tuesday, June 4, 2013

DIX HILLS, NY – Steve Sage Goldberg makes his directorial debut with his new short film Bullified at the Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) on Tuesday, July 23rd at 7:45 p.m. at the Bellmore Movies. Bullified explores the topic of bullying, but offers a terrifying twist.

“I feel truly blessed and honored to be recognized by LIIFE,” Steve Sage Goldberg said. “I look forward to continuing my path as a film maker and I’m anxious for people to watch my film. I want to see how it affects them.”

Goldberg’s directorial debut was pulled together on a micro-budget that relied heavily on a crew that was dedicated to the story and the idea of the film.

“Creating Bullified from concept to delivery has been the most amazing experience,” Goldberg said.”  “Without the cast, crew, producers and writer, I would still be dreaming of making movies.”

Written by Lee Kolinsky (Send No Flowers, The Blue Lizard,) Bullified follows career criminal Riley Samuel (Russ Carmada, Send No Flowers; The Night Never Sleeps) who has been bullying, intimidating and exploiting anyone he could since he was 10-years old. Now, he’s being accused of murder.

“This film explores the history of a man who has been bullied and became a bully as a result,” Kolinsky said. “We took the idea of bullying a little further and turned it into a story of murder.”

Bullified is set in a therapy session between Riley and criminal therapist Dr. Staci Brennan (Katherine Barron, Maggie Marvel; The Girl on the Fridge.) The session examines each victim’s relationship with Riley.

“It is a thought provoking short story on a very important subject,” Russ Carmada said. “But it adds some movie thriller ingredients to the mix that makes it exciting to watch as well.”

Bullifed discusses the lasting effects of bullying long after the child has become an adult. The movie delves into the paths every character took in their lives long after they were bullied.

“As an actor, it is always great to work on a project that has a smart script and rich characters,” Carmada said. “What Steve and Lee gave us as players with Bullified was terrific to play.”

In addition to Carmada and Barron, the movie stars Michael A. Lovaglio (Send No Flowers, The Night Never Sleeps), Dan Brennan (Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear; Maggie Marvel), Donna DeCianni (Send No Flowers, Eddie Monroe) and Fred Carpenter (Send No Flowers, Murdered Innocence).

“I had a great time working on the Bulified set,” Katherine Barron said. “Steve cares deeply about the message of the film and it shows.”

Bullified was produced by Steve Sage Productions and filmed in Dix Hills, West Babylon and Melville. Casting and produced by Mary Ann Giannino.

“Most of the cast and crew are from Long Island,” Kolinsky said. “It’s great to be able to show the film essentially in our own back yard.”

Bullifed is being shown at the Bellmore Movies, 222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY 11710.  Tickets will be available in June at the theater or online at www.longislandfilm.com . The Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) will be from July 15th to July 25th
