World Book Night  

Who:   Barnes & Noble is a proud sponsor of World Book Night 2012.  While giving away free editions may seem like an odd activity for a bookseller, our participation highlights our commitment to literacy, community and lifelong learning.  All B&N and 90 College stores will serve as pick-up locations for book givers (volunteers choose a location from a list of book stores and libraries). 

What: World Book Night is an annual celebration on April 23^rd designed to spread a love of        reading and books.  Organizers chose the April 23^rd to tie in with UNESCO’s World Book Day, the anniversary of Cervantes’ death, and the date of Shakespeare’s birth and death.  The campaign involves volunteers going out into the community to distribute free books to new and light readers.  At last year’s launch event in the U.K., volunteers distributed more than 1 million free books.  This year, World Book Night expands to the U.S., Ireland and Germany, with tens of thousands of volunteers participating.  For more information, visit http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/
