U.S. Military Vets to Host Event for Homeless Veterans

July 1, Centereach, NY – The U.S. Military Vets M.C. is hosting a Kick Stands Up Motorcycle Poker Run and Car Show to benefit the homeless Veterans at Suffolk County United Veterans. The event will be heldJuly 14^th at the VFW, 31 Horseblock Road, Centereach from 11:00am to 4:00pm featuring three live bands, the 25-piece brass band The Selden Cadets, performing show tunes; the Brooklyn Time Machine performing 50’s and 60’s music; and the Full Tilt Band, performing classic blues and rock. An array of vendors, home style BBQ, and raffle prizes will ensure there is something for everyone.

Motorcycle registration opens up at 9:00am for the 50-mile poker run. Classic cars and military vehicles are asked to arrive by 10:00am. The event is free to the public. For further information contact Ruth McDade atruth.mcdade@scuv.org or by telephone at 631-672-9613.

“We wanted to do something to help the Veterans, and chose to reach out to Suffolk County United Veterans,” said Rich Trooper, President of U.S. Military Vets M.C. NY Chapter 1.

The U.S. Military Vets MC was established in 1987, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is incorporated as a non-profit organization. The club as a national organization strives to achieve the following: To provide a club for qualified military veterans which offers brotherhood and an opportunity to establish relationships with other military veterans who have served in the defense of the United States of America; to establish and support a strong sense of pride in having served in the active military service of the United States of America; and to improve the image of military veterans and motorcyclists to the general public.

Suffolk County United Veterans, a not for profit organization founded in 1989, operates over ten sites consisting of emergency, transitional and permanent housing where veterans who suffer from the emotional impact of war and military life can begin to heal.
