Quickchek Raises Money for LI Military Families; Firefighters Sub-making Contest Benefits Hope for the Warriors

Cait R Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Lake Grove, NY - February 1, 2016 - Talk about putting together a quick bite for lunch.

QuickChek Corporation, a market leader in food services dedicated to serving its communities, raised funds to help support post-9/11 Long Island service members and their families by hosting a sub-making contest at their fresh convenience market at 2686 Middle Country Road in Lake Grove on Saturday, January 30.

Volunteer firefighters from the Centereach Fire Department competed to see how many fully-loaded 6-inch QuickChek Original Italian subs they could make in 10 minutes.

QuickChek donated $2,536 on Saturday --- $10 for each of the 58 Original Italian subs made along with other in-store fundraisers --- with proceeds benefiting Hope For the Warriors, a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.

All told QuickChek has raised $136,536 for Hope For the Warriors through a variety of in-store promotions over the past seven months.

The family-owned chain has 143 locations throughout Long Island, the Hudson Valley and New Jersey.

“We pride ourselves in being active members of the communities we serve and we’re pleased to continue to honor and support our local service members and their families who give so much of themselves,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling, whose Whitehouse Station, NJ-based company has raised millions of dollars to support a variety of causes benefiting children, families, and veterans.

In the sub-making contest, the firefighters competed to see who could make the most of QuickChek’s signature fully-loaded Original Italian 6-inch subs consisting of Italian meats, cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, hot peppers and mayo.

Additional activities included a cookie eating contest, a potato chip stacking contest and a candy filling contest. QuickChek made additional donations to Hope for the Warriors with participants receiving QuickChek store gift cards.

QuickChek stores provide one-stop shopping, offering a wide variety of grocery and market items including fresh baked goods from an in-store bakery, an expansive craft beer selection, and excellent customer service provided by locally hired team members. All QuickChek stores offer no-fee ATMs for additional added value to consumers. Stores are modern by industry standards with the company maintaining bright clean stores, well-lighted fuel stations and parking lots with wide, easy-to-use entrances and exits that add to a shopper’s convenience.

The Lake Grove store is open 24 hours a day and features a Q Café, which offers nearly 60 varieties of handcrafted hot and iced cold drinks; fresh-brewed cappuccinos, lattes and espressos; blended-to-order fruit smoothies; and decadent frozen chocolate treats; indoor seating for 14 people and outdoor seating for eight; eight fueling stations and 69 parking spaces.
