THE DEBUT OF ‘THE NIGHTHAWK VAUDEVILLE FOLLIES’ 

‘Nighthawk Vaudeville Follies’ to Feature Top Cabaret Acts; New Feature Will Premiere at Sofia’s Downstairs, Tuesday, December 4^th

New York, NY, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 — A new venue for top cabaret acts from New York City and all across the country will premiere on Tuesday, December 4^thwhen “The Nighthawk Vaudeville Follies” makes its debut.  Created by the Manhattan Rhythm Kings’ Hal Shane in cooperation with Vince Giordano, “The Nighthawk Vaudeville Follies” will showcase great singers and dancers, and will be in keeping with the hot-jazz, speakeasy roots of the music Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are known for at Sofia’s, in films, and on HBO’s Prohibition-set dramatic series, Boardwalk Empire. 

“The Nighthawk Vaudeville Follies” will premiere on Tuesday, December 4^th, and will make up the second set of that evening’s show, which begins at 9:15 pm.  “The Follies” will be a recurring feature of Nighthawks performances at Sofia’s Downstairs, and the dates, times and performer line-ups will be announced on an ongoing basis.

For the Tuesday, December 4^th debut of “The Nighthawks Follies”, featured performers will include:

THE MANHATTAN RHYTHM KINGS – One of America’s top cabaret acts, known for their polished performances of the American popular music of the ‘20s, ‘30s and ‘40s, the Manhattan Rhythm Kinds have gained a large and enthusiastic following around the world.  While frequently compared with such musical greats as the Mills Brothers and Paul Whiteman’s Rhythm Boys, the trio has established a unique character of its own with a combination of close-harmony singing, virtuosic instrumental work, and spectacular tap dancing.

FELICITY STIVERSON - A regular performer on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, dancer and choreographer Felicity Stiverson has been called "The true muse of dance …Her particular brand of choreography can be described as nothing short of athletic, having a polished flair…” Among her many projects, Felicity performed at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater for the New York Jazz Choreography Project, was featured in “Hot Feet” on Broadway with Maurice Hines, and toured nationally and internationally in “West Side Story” and “Mack and Mabel”.

SCOTT LEIENDECKER- A multi-talented singer-dancer-actor, Scott performed with the Manhattan Rhythm Kings and Tommy Tune in Tommy’s recent show “Steps In Time” and was also featured in Tommy’s production of “Dr. Dolittle”.  He has toured in several musicals including “Fiddler on the Roof” with Topol, and received media accolades for his performance in “Crazy for You” – a critically acclaimed west-coast production mounted this past summer.

JULIA UDINE – A Broadway newcomer, Singer Julia Udine was recently featured in Terry Schreiber Studios production of “Jack’s Back” – the Jack the Ripper musical. In regional theater, Julia appeared as Belle in “Beauty and the Beast”, Maria in “West Side Story” and Velma in “Chicago”.
