Glen Cove Non-Profit Receives $20k from Bethpage

John Mitty Thursday, April 25, 2013

Glen Cove, NY – April 23, 2013 - SCO Family of Services, the non-profit human service provider based in Glen Cove, New York, today announced the receipt of a $20,000 donation from Bethpage Federal Credit Union in support of SCO's upcoming Fashion Show benefit on May 1st. The benefit, which will be held at the Nassau Country Club, is dedicated to raising funds in support of literacy programs throughout SCO's programs for children and youth.

Bethpage Federal Credit Union, a major supporter of Long Island-based community programs for children, is recognized by SCO as the event's "Literacy Champion" for the generous gift.

“We are delighted to sponsor the SCO Fashion Show benefit, and support SCO programs and services to bolster youth literacy across Long Island,” said Linda Armyn, Senior Vice President, Bethpage Federal Credit Union.  “Bethpage is a long-time supporter of children’s charities on Long Island, and we are proud to partner with SCO to help children get the education and confidence needed to succeed in life.”

"We are extremely grateful to Bethpage Federal Credit Union for its support of our programs focused on improving literacy skills for children and young people," said SCO Family of Services Executive Director Gail Nayowith. "By helping children read and succeed - the theme of this year's Fashion Show - you can make a significant contribution toward their success in school, on the job, and throughout their lives. We are very proud to partner with Bethpage on this common goal to enrich the lives of vulnerable young people in our community."

The 24th Annual Fashion Show, to be held May 1st at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, is a popular fundraising event in support of SCO programs on Long Island and throughout New York City. This year's Fashion Show honors the memory of Pat Brown of Port Washington, Long Island, a long-time SCO volunteer. The theme of this year's event is "Helping Children Read and Succeed."  A college-bound teen selected from SCO programs will receive a scholarship at the event. The Fashion Show features a cocktail hour; silent auction; dinner and a fashion show with volunteers modeling clothing from North Shore boutiques. You can buy tickets online at www.sco.org.

SCO Family of Services helps 60,000 vulnerable New Yorkers each year build a strong foundation for the future. SCO gets young children off to a good start, launches youth into adulthood, stabilizes and strengthens families and unlocks potential for children and adults with special needs.
