Food Trucks Derby on Long Island on August 10th

Edible East End is bringing mobile food trucks to Long Island this week. On Aug. 10^th, the Hayground School in Bridgehampton will be surrounded by food trucks from 4pm to 7:30pm.

Join the Great Food Truck Derby and enjoy ethnic and mobile eats from at least 15 trucks. Together, the trucks will serve tacos, pizza, hibachi, cupcakes and more. Non-alcoholic drinks as well as New York wine and beer will be available.

Tickets are available for purchase online and go for $50 for adults and $20 for children age 12 and younger. It covers one serving at each food truck – and with 15 trucks onsite, you’re sure to feel stuffed at the end! Tickets for children include 5 truck servings. This event benefits Hayground School and Jeff’s Kitchen. Together, they have established an edible schoolyard – one of the first in the region. The project also helps provide local kids training in culinary arts.

Food trucks from Brooklyn, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Greenport, Manhattan, Mattituck, Montauk, Southampton and Westhampton will be participating in the Great Food Truck Derby. Also on site will be Southampton Publick House, Brooklyn Brewery, Wolffer Estate, Peconic Bay Winery, Zico Coconut Water, Sweet ‘tauk and others.

If you’re craving halal food like the ones found on New York City streets, head over to 4577 Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station. It’s home to Time Out To Eat, a Manhattan-style halal food truck. You can score a big deal on food all under $5, such as Chicken and Rice, Chicken Kati Rolls, Falafel, Gyros, Masala French Fries and more. It is open every day of the week, except Sunday.
