EEA Presents Creativity in the Workplace Workshop & Networking

John Mitty Saturday, May 11, 2013

(RIVERHEAD, NY, May 8, 2013) – East End Arts is pleased to announce their next event in the Third Thursdays arts-in-community series at Brecknock Hall, located at One Brecknock Road, at the entrance to Peconic Landing, in Greenport. Held the third Thursday of every month from March through October 2013, the entire series of workshops focuses on Creativity in the Workplace: Exploring Innovation and the Artist Mindset. The next in the series will take place on Thursday, May 16, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and will be facilitated by actor, stage director, board member and Director of Shakespeare Programming at Northeast Stage, A.D. Newcomer, alongside East End Arts Education Director Steve Watson and creative arts therapist, writer, and performer Jude Treder-Wolff of Lifestage (a training and consulting company) who is also a trainer/consultant specializing in experiential learning and skill development for the networked world. Wine is generously provided by Martha Clara Vineyards. These programs are free to attend and open to the public.

The topic this workshop is Working Together, with the following objectives:

  • Identify the importance of interpersonal skills within teams
  • Understand the difference between walls and boundaries
  • Explore tools for cooperative communication

Encouraging creative thinking in the workplace is fast becoming a major focus of a competitive 21st century company. Exposure to the arts has been demonstrated to increase skills in critical thinking and creative problem solving by encouraging free association of ideas and uncensored thinking – both necessary for originality.

These workshops and discussions will fuel the ongoing creation of a unique curriculum designed by East End Arts, emphasizing creativity and innovation. These free events, open to the public, will take place every third Thursday of the month at the magnificent and historic Brecknock Hall in Greenport, and will feature artists and musicians demonstrating their unique and original voice.

Business leaders and artists from multiple disciplines will be invited to present a variety of approaches to:

·         Develop relationships in work and community

·         Gain a deeper understanding of the arts and the artist mindset

·         Create innovative and competitive advantages in business

·         Solve challenges of collaboration through team building

·         Improve brainstorming and creative problem solving skills

This workshop series is for anyone seeking to develop stronger relationships in the workplace, strengthen team building and problem solving skills, or to gain a deeper understanding of the practical application of the arts in 21st century society. The public is invited to meet the artists and discover how the creativity of the artist mindset is beneficial to anyone’s work or lifestyle.
