My wife and I were going through a difficult divorce (all divorces are difficult ... of course--but what I mean is that we could not agree on anything, even how we would handle splitting up), so finally I decided we needed someone to stand in as an arbiter and give us a third perspective. I signed us up at the Divorce Mediation Center, and they made the entire situation more approachable overnight. I can't tell you what a relief it was to finally start getting the details sorted out with the house, our possessions, and most of all, our two beautiful children. I feel like the arrangement we are coming to will be best for everyone, and I am very glad I will still be able to be a part of their lives. I can't imagine where we'd be right now with things if it were not for the Divorce Mediation Center. For the sake of your family, if you are struggling as we were, make an appointment. My ex wife and I recently completed our divorce. It was a bad breakup so at first I felt very threatened by the whole thing, especially considering we have a son, and I thought I might lose him. We decided mediation was best since this is not an amicable divorce ... the Divorce Mediation Center of LI did amazingly working us through the process and helping us not only get the paperwork squared away, but also crafting solutions which were constructive and not destructive. I still get my son several days a week, and surprisingly, I feel like my ex and I have a better understanding coming out of the divorce than we did going in. So what could have been a horrible situation may actually be okay for our son, and that means a lot to me. If you're having problems with a divorce, pay a visit to the Divorce Center. They can help.
