Good Shepherd Hospice Receives Grief Reach Grant from the New York Life Foundation

Cait R Monday, February 15, 2016

Farmingdale, NY – Good Shepherd Hospice announced today that it received a $25,000 Grief Reach grant from the New York Life Foundation. The funding will support their Children’s Bereavement Program, which provides avenues to overcome language barriers in the Hispanic community and extend bereavement support services to non-English speaking children and families following the death of a loved one.

“We are grateful for the New York Life Foundation’s investment in this program, which will help us build our capacity in order to fulfill our mission,” said Mary Ellen Polit, Good Shepherd Hospice chief administrative officer. “The support will help many grieving children and their families in our community to begin the healing process.”

“The feedback we’ve received since the program began five years ago has helped us to meet the growing needs of the providers. We not only want to help them to broaden their reach, but we also want to help them to develop and improve their organization internally,” said Maria Collins, New York Life Foundation vice president. “We have expanded the application parameters and increased the financial support so that youth across the country can receive the help they need to heal and grow.”
